Nikos Bel-Jon was born Nicholaos Fotios Baloyannis in the historic town of Valtesinikos, Arcadia, Greece on March 20, 1911 to Fotios Christos Balloyannis and Panayiota Oosta Zafiropoulou, the second of six children. He would have three brothers; Christos, Demetrious (Mimis) and Achilleas, and two Sisters; Kiki and Vasso. His father was the Greek Minister of Forestry. Fotios Baloyannis was a traditional strict Greek man with high expectations for his children, but despite all of his bluster, Panayiota was the real source of strength in the family. The family would eventually leave the idyllic Valtesinikos and move to Athens. |
